Four graphical user interfaces (GUI's) were
built:
- Add metadata interface - this interface
allows the data manager to harvest existing metadata, modify
and add metadata and merge records. Applications written
on the JavaTM 2 platform for deployment with JavaTM Web
Start are always up-to-date and available
- Categories management interface -
this interface allows the data manager to edit the West
Sussex Category List, Government Category List and CUPIDs.
Ideal for management by a select number of users (data managers)
Both of the above interfaces are deployed
using the Swing components, which are part of the JavaTM Foundation
Classes (JFC), to be used with the JavaTM 2 platform.
- Query interface - web based.
This interface is a basic search tool. Future enhancements
likely and possible within the current build
- Query interface - web services.
This interface is a basic search tool that allows interaction
with other federated databases and/or repositories to 'farm'
off requests for data, URI's or documents
Additionally, it is possible to create
a targeted GUI whereby only information relating to Freedom
of Information can be retrieved.
